RENDER #2 @ BAR OPEN
Following on from a successful opening night, RENDER returns on Thursday May 20 at Bar Open with another world-class line-up, featuring acclaimed dubstep producer DROID SECTOR(Geelong), wonky beatsmith INKSWEL(Wax Museum) and champion MPC pad-basher DALTRON(Low Def). The night begins with Dublab’s thrift-shop sampling doco ‘Secondhand Sureshots’ featuring Daedelus, Ras-G, J.Rocc and Nobody; and the ‘Listening Lounge’ kicks off straight after. All beatmakers (beginner to pro) are invited to bring along their best new track along on CD for all to hear. Live acts start around 10pm. Whether you’re a beatmaker or a fan of electronic music production, RENDER is a place to meet, share and make new friends. Giveaways of ‘Secondhand Sureshots’ courtesy of Dublab/Fuse plus a bunch of cool stuff from our good friends at Wax Museum Records too. Free entry.

MADLIB ON FRIDAY NIGHT FLAVAS 2005
In early 2005, nearing the release of Quasimoto's Further Adventures of Lord Quas, Madlib stopped into L.A.'s Power 106 FM show Friday Night Flavas for a short and typically hip-hop strange set, playing much of his own production for Quas, Madvillain, MED and others.

Off Track III finds the New York/Boston-based pair shining light on another diverse array of underexposed vinyl. The eclectic African disco and soul cuts Amir highlights on his disc are Americanized by style but inherently authentic in feel, demonstrating the very best of the region’s dance music from the period following Fela Kuti’s mid-70s creative peak. Some standouts: Tee Mac’s 1980’s insistently catchy ‘Living Everyday’; Effi Duke’s percussive masterpiece ‘The Time Is Come’; and Christy Essien’s glorious ‘You Can’t Change’, which features famed bandleader Geraldo Pino’s Show Train outfit.
